Getting married at Bateman's Barn
THE CEREMONY
Bateman's Barn is licensed for civil wedding ceremonies and partnerships. The history and setting make it a peaceful and relaxed but above all, memorable location to get married.
We offer a set up day on the Friday for a Saturday wedding, or on a Tuesday for a Wednesday wedding, to decorate the barn and marquee, arrange flowers, deliveries and have a rehearsal if needed. We have simple elegant lime wash chivari chairs but we can organise cream or white chair covers and sashes to compliment your colour scheme.
The Ceremony takes place in the Barn followed by drinks and/or canapés served on the terrace whilst the newly married couple and guests make use of our gardens, farm and medieval ruins for their photographs.
Our aim is to ensure your wedding is stress free and relaxing. It is part of our service to advise, assist and help you when required on any aspect of the ceremony including:
- Arrange a limousine, classic sports car, a horse and carriage or even a bicycle so you can arrive in style.
- Advise on and arrange music including recorded favourites, classical musicians, acoustic guitar or even a Scottish piper.
- Organise drinks from the best Champagne and fine wines to bar serving real ale and local beers.
MAKING AN ENTRANCE & SETTING THE SCENE
For an intimate feel couples can choose to have their ceremony conducted at the hayloft end of the barn with its ancient low oak beams, which can be hung with ivy and wildflowers, creating a cool shady feel. This also allows the bride to arrive in style at the main West doors by carriage, classic car or even on a bicycle and make a real entrance.
The day before, the barn is set out for the ceremony, with the traditional being the most popular, a central aisle flanked by rows of seating. We also encourage couples to do a rehearsal so everyone taking part, bride or partner, groom or partner, bridesmaids and giver of the bride, know what they are doing and can then just enjoy themselves on the day.
On the day prior to the ceremony, guests can relax on the terrace and get a drink from our converted stables bar. The registrars always arrive early and will spend time making sure everyone involved is ready including any guests doing readings and the couples witnesses.
The main barn doors are opened shortly before the ceremony the guests are then invited to take their seats ready for bridal parties arrival.
If you have live music for the ceremony the registrars will liaise with the musicians on the day and if you have chosen recorded music our own sound person will be on hand to play it for you.
