Getting married at Bateman's Barn
The Ceremony
Bateman's Barn is licensed for civil wedding ceremonies and the history and setting make it a peaceful and relaxed but above all, memorable location to get married.
The Barn can accommodate 80 guests for an all seated ceremony and, if desired, drinks and canapés are served in our courtyard whilst the bride and groom make use of our gardens and medieval ruins for their photographs.

Our aim is to meet your needs and ensure your wedding ceremony is a great success. It is part of our service to advise, assist and help you when required on any aspect of the ceremony including:
- arrange a florist to create a fragrant and colour co-ordinated floral arrangement
- advise on and arrange music from recorded favourites to classical musicians
- arrange a limousine, classic sports car, a horse and carriage or even a hot air balloon
- organise drinks from the best Champagne and fine wines to bar serving real ale and local beers
Making an entrance and setting the scene
For an intimate feel couples can choose to have their ceremony conducted at the hayloft end of the barn. With its ancient low oak beams, which can be hung with ivy and wildflowers creating a cool shady feel. This also allows the bride to arrive in style at the main West doors by carriage, classic car or even on a bicycle and make a real entrance.
Alternatively the bride can arrive, as if by magic, from either the North of South entrances and make an impact as she walks past her waiting guest. Joining the groom in front of the West doors bathed in natural light with the gardens and Grove providing a beautiful backdrop.
Or the ceremony can take place against the mediaeval South wall with guest seated in a semi-circular rows which creates a very informal and intimate setting especially useful for smaller weddings.
"It was a truly memorable day and greatly enjoyed by everyone. The barn looked wonderful, many said what a fantastic and unique venue for a ceremony"
