Batemans Barn set within the grounds of the grade 1 listed South Elmham Hall is truly a unique and beautiful setting for a wedding or wedding reception. A perfect venue for your special day, a little rural romance even, think Cider with Rosie or the Darling Buds of May.
The Location
Set on the secluded working South Elmham Hall Farm which has been in the Sanderson family for 100 years, the barn which dates from the 13th Century has been carefully restored and renovated.
Tucked away within a grove of ancient trees within a medieval moat, it offers the perfect combination of peace and tranquility with all the benefits of modern facilities.
The Barn has an oak sprung dance floor, is centrally heated with lots of natural light as well as daylight, wall wash and dimmable lighting with contemporary fittings making for a chic, comfortable and stylish location. There's plenty of parking and the barn has wheelchair access throughout and baby changing facilities.
The Old Stables adjacent to the barn have been carefully restored and converted into a fully functioning bar with real ale, lager on tap and a full range of wines, spirits and soft drinks. A great space for late night talkers to escape the hubbub of the party and chillout with friends whatever the weather.
The Grounds
The grounds surrounding the barn are yours to enjoy for the day including the shady grove, lawns, terrace and courtyard. A ruined medieval gatehouse in the grounds of the hall are also available to wedding couples by prior arrangement all make a wonderful backdrop for your wedding photographs.
The Venue
The Barn is registered for civil weddings and we can comfortably seat 80 guests for both the ceremony and then the wedding reception in the barn. If you have a longer guest list then we can accommodate 160 guests, some standing for the ceremony making use of the covered areas around the courtyard, and the barn, for a less formal reception. For the evening 200 guests can be accommodated for a disco, live band or barn dance or even as we once had a full rendition of the sound of music!

This is a family run business with the owners working closely with the couples and their families, both in preparation and on the day, offering a wealth of experience and along with our team of dedicated staff, a personal and exclusive service. We offer both a completely bespoke wedding service and also a range of wedding packages. We have found that this offers total flexibility for those clients who wish to plan an unusual or themed day and peace of mind for clients who are want to sit back and relax knowing that all the essential elements of their day will be provided with the minimum of fuss or worry.
